Optical Glass Designation
In the view points of environmental and ecological safeguards, Hikari glass is developing optical glasses which are entirely free from Lead(Pb) and Arsenic(As). These glass types are called ECO OPTICAL GLASS.
An "E-" prefix will be added to the glass type to indicate it is an ECO version (previously the Schott glass name was used.). We have several kinds of non-ECO glass types containing Pb and/or As, which are currently available.
Optical Glass Code
Each code has 6 digits. The intial 3 digits are the first three decimals of the refractive index and the later 3 digits are first two digits and one decimal of the Abbe number. For example: E-BK7 the nd = 1.51680, the vd = 64.10 code of E-BK7 is 516641.
